A Residential Architecture Project in Austin, TX
For the Woodview project, the homeowners asked our Austin architects to design a new build home to serve their multigenerational family’s needs. This project required housing a young couple, their kids, a loving grandmother, and a work-from-home office. The family wanted the home to feel open and airy as well as separated and private. The solution that our Texas-based architects came up with was a courtyard-shaped home with a grandmother’s suite on one side and the main house on the other. The contemporary exterior is finished in cement-plank lap siding and board and batten panels for textural variations and metal-clad windows for a clean, modern feel. A glass hallway connects the two structures and an office off the front of the home, serving as a bridge between the compound’s three distinct zones. The open-concept living, dining, and kitchen space features expansive rows of windows that open onto the courtyard and the outside, creating a light and airy feel. A cozy banquette, walk-in pantry, and oversized laundry room meet the family’s practical needs. For recreation and relaxation, an expansive back porch offers an outdoor fireplace and another area for this large group to gather. Upstairs, the space is divided into a private master suite, game room, and two bedrooms connected with a Jack and Jill bath.
