A Residential Remodel in Austin, TX
For the Cousteau Lane project, our Austin architects were tasked with reimagining a traditional Texas home into a hillside retreat perfect for hosting poolside parties or simply kicking back to take in the view. To start, we reimagined the facade, eliminating a second-story balcony to create a dramatic double-height entry. Restored original brick pavers provide a welcoming approach to a modern blush door that ushers you inside. Our architects expanded the interior living space by enclosing the double-volume back porch. The square footage gained allowed for a larger open-plan living-dining-kitchen combination as well as a considerable scullery, pantry, and new covered back deck. The kitchen is an entertainer’s dream. Oversized island seating, a gourmet range, and triple windows overlooking the landscape would delight any home chef. At the same time, the scullery with custom black and white painted floors delivers ample room for catering setup for larger events and holiday entertaining. On the first level, we also added a powder bath and a multipurpose game room with access to a full bathroom that could serve as guest quarters. Our Austin team placed windows throughout the home to supply abundant natural light, capture the beautiful views, and draw you outside. Panoramic sliding doors invite you to the shady back deck that leads to the resurfaced pool and new cabana, complete with an outdoor kitchen, fireplace, and mounted TV. The cabana provides a luxurious gathering space perched above the hills, perfect for year-round enjoyment. When it’s time to call it a night, the homeowners can retire to the reconfigured second floor. Our team updated the space to accommodate three bedrooms, two baths, a laundry room, and a new primary suite complete with separate walk-in closets and a large bathroom with views over West Austin.
