A Residential Architecture Project in Austin, TX
For the Norris project, our Austin architects were tasked to design a Family Room addition in the back of the property that seamlessly blended with the 1960’s modern home style of the existing house.
The space was designed to expand the living space while honoring the distinctive mid-century modern aesthetic of the original home. Our goal was to integrate the new with the old, maintaining the sleek lines and architectural elements that made the house unique. The addition features large, clerestory windows and expansive sliding doors, bringing in an abundance of natural light and creating an inviting connection to the outdoors.
We carefully designed the addition to complement the existing structure, maintaining the proportions and modern aesthetic that define the original home. The new overhangs are a perfect continuation of the roofline, providing both shade and architectural continuity while the slider doors and windows allow for a seamless transition to the outdoor space, where the beauty of the property’s trees and landscaping become an integral part of the room’s ambiance. The result, a bright, welcoming space that feels like it’s always been part of the house, perfect for gathering, relaxing, and creating memories.
