A Residential Architecture Project in Austin, TX
For the Chicory Cove remodel, our team of Austin architects expanded the structure vertically and horizontally with first-floor and second-story additions. This 1970s single-story home was not functioning for a growing Austin family looking for modern comforts and contemporary style. Our design team kept the original living room and dining area but expanded the first floor to include a new kitchen and family room. The large kitchen features an oversized island, a walk-in pantry, desk area, streamlined cabinets, simple finishes, and a bank of windows framing the treed views outside. A new entry was created by taking some of the front porch space, and functional bench and peg built-ins were added for easy storage. We updated the living room with a steel mantel to give the stone fireplace a modern flair and upgraded the bedrooms and bathrooms to reflect the young family’s style. On the home exterior, our team came up with some practical solutions to modernize the front elevation. The existing limestone facade was slurry coated to give it a cleaner look, and cement fiber panels with metallic accents were installed to add a contemporary edge. These exterior additions transformed the rustic ranch into a contemporary champion of design. Now, this house reflects the personality and style of the family who lives inside.
